Monarda punctata

Beebalm-Spotted

This distinctive native wildflower is a magnet for all kind of pollinators which flock to its long-lasting blooms. Stacks of whorled, pale yellow, spotted flowers set upon a collar of showy pink, lavender or blush white bracts line the unbranched stems. Short-lived perennial; naturalizes easily by seed and underground runners.

Grower Information

Monarda can be started from 72Deep plugs planted in the late summer/early fall and overwintered easily in cold frames or pot-to-pot outdoors. If planting in spring for late spring/early summer sales, start with our larger 32ct vernalized plugs. Monarda should be pinched back early to promote branching or delay flowering. Pinching or PGRs can be used to control height, though PGRs are not recommended for dwarf varieties.
