Geraniums are ideal landscaping perennials for several reasons:
- Low, thick hedge of foliage suppresses weeds. Most are drought-tolerant once established.
- No major pests or diseases.
- Grow densely, yet not invasive.
- Emerge very early in the spring and die back very late.
- Heavy carpet of blooms over the leaves in the spring.
- Brightly colored foliage in the fall.
- In many places they are nearly evergreen.
